Increase Your Client Base and Help Make a Real Difference in Cancer Survivor’s Lives!
The Cancer Exercise Training Institute is officially coming to Nova Scotia! The two day LIVE Workshop will be held April 25th-26th, 2020 from 9-5 each day at Cole Harbour Place, located at 51 Forest Hills Pkwy, Dartmouth, NS. The workshop is open to all Health and Fitness Professionals.
This is the most comprehensive coursework available on the subject of cancer recovery through exercise. Following the live course there will be an online examination; students must obtain an 80% or better passing grade in order to become certified as a Cancer Exercise Specialist® and listed on our International Directory.
The Cancer Exercise Specialist® live workshop was developed for Health and Fitness Professionals (Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, Pilates, Yoga, etc.) seeking to attain a higher level of mastery and work with cancer patients during and after cancer surgery and treatment and into survivorship. Participants will gain a complete understanding of the entire cancer process from diagnosis and treatment to reconstruction and survivorship. Our unique and individualized programming will help to improve the patient’s ability to cope with the mental and physical stress following cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Our comprehensive programming covers 26 types of cancer, as well as pediatrics, with special emphasis on breast cancer and breast reconstruction. We provide three methods of certification: home study, live/interactive webinar workshops, and live in-person workshops. The Cancer Exercise Training Institute has trained more health and fitness professionals worldwide to become Cancer Exercise Specialists than any other organization.
Workshop Instructor: Heather Creamer is the current Canadian National Affiliate for the Cancer Exercise Training Institute (CETI) and the Chief Operating Officer of MedeXN Fitness Institute (www.medexn.com ), an online provider of Certifications and Courses (CEC’s) for Health and Fitness Professionals, including the Cancer Exercise Specialist® Advanced Qualification. She is a co-author, (along with Andrea Leonard, Founder of the Cancer Exercise Training Institute), of “The Survivors Guide to Lymphedema: What you haven’t been told- And what you need to Know”, which will be published this year.
As an 8 year cancer survivor, Heather understands the importance of proper exercise programing for those on the cancer continuum. She is a Cancer Exercise Specialist, a Personal Trainer, a Certified Coach Practitioner and a Registered Holistic Nutritional Consultant. Heather teaches workshops and presents on the topic of Medical Fitness Exercise and will be speaking at the upcoming INSPIRE World Fitness Summit in Aug 2020.
Course Author: Andrea Leonard, 36-year cancer survivor, author of “Essential Exercises for Breast Cancer Survivors,” NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, and President/Founder of the Cancer Exercise Training Institute began her extensive research in 1995; long before anyone had ever hear of “cancer exercise.” She spent three years working on Essential Exercises with the chiefs of breast surgery at Georgetown, George Washington, and Johns’ Hopkins University Hospital Medical Centers. Realizing there was a need to assist patients with many types of cancer, Andrea expanded her research and writing to cover a broader spectrum. She is truly a pioneer in the field of cancer and exercise and has paved the way for other organizations to follow.
